Then I saw the SOTW thread about Drake ceramic mouthpieces and listened to some of the sound clips. A tenor "Contemporary" model should be on the way tomorrow. Of course it's primarily going to see service on the C-mel, unless it does spectacular things on tenor and NOT on C-mel. Now if only I had the chops to do it justice like a number of the passaround testers did -- in particular their fluency in tenorese. Surely you know of this dialect, as spoken by just about every contemporary tenor player starting with Wayne Shorter and Joe Henderson. I never learned to speak it.
