Here's a gorgeous Martin C-mel. The price is a bit steep for me, but check the photos and video!

That is possibly the sweetest looking horn I've seen... well, maybe ever. It looked a little odd in the hands of such a tall guy, and it sounded more and more like an alto the longer he played it. Maybe that was just the groove he found himself in once he settled in. I don't imagine they have days to get familiar with the horns (you saw all the others waiting to be played). Most people don't play a whole lot of C-mel and will approach it either like a small tenor or a large alto. I felt like he started with a tenor mentality and ended with an alto mentality.

Quite coincidental in that my re-opening blog topic is about Chateaugay tenors, who are based in Montreal, as is Randy Cole (wideangleman) - 'cos I seem to think that one of the Chateaugay sax players was featured on an ebay/youtube video playing that particular Martin C-Mel. Wish I'd been paying more attention at the time...
